The olive oil from this area is one of Tuscany’s most prestigious due to the climate with mild winters and spring with normally sufficient rain, which means ideal conditions for a successful flowering and fruit set as well as for the first stage of growth. August temperatures but not excruciating encouraging a gradual, consistent ripening of the olives. The bouquet is famous strong grass and piquant with a strong green colour.
Podere la Torre consists of a total of x 20 hectares of olive groove / farmed land and 10 hectares of woodland.
THE AREA: The farm is located between the Pisa and Grosseto provinces and is known as Val di Cornia, a valley that leans towards the peninsula of Piombino that faces the gorgeous islands of Elsa/Capraia/Pianosa. The valley was a very significant passage for Etruscans that connected Baratti to Volterra. This particular point of the valley is the most southern of the Colline Metalliferi, where the natural geothermal hot water wells are used by Enel to produce electricity and where there are various SPA centres (Sasso Pisano 5km away and la Cerreta – 15 km away). The various archaeological and natural sites make this area an interesting alternative to the traditional tourist destinations: a place where nature and archaeology converge to let you discover the charm of the “Toscana Minore”. A Tuscany which is still unknown but from a tourist standpoint is greatly appreciated by those who have already discovered it. Val di Cornia is strategically located close to the terranean sea and is perfect for day trips to most Tuscan tourist attractions. It offers many different types of landscapes and environments: from traditional Tuscan woodland and landscape to Nature Reserves with active wildlife and the impervious Metallifere hills to the geothermal energy fields.
