If Cessna is the most commonly known manufacturer of smaller aircraft, then surely Boeing is the direct opposite. Go ask anyone which company they first think of when it comes to large, wide body style aircraft and they most certainly will say Boeing. No wonder, since the 747 was the original jumbo jet.
However, one must not forget that Boeing has its feet firmly placed in early aviation history, its roots tracing all the way back the era of biplanes. The list of feats since then can be made endless: being the largest manufacturer by revenue, the long-time collaboration with NASA on the Apollo program to being the largest defense contractor worldwide. Owning a Boeing just might be the ultimate bragging rights – as if the owner of one would need to brag.
